The Goldstein Packaging Laboratory

The Goldstein Packaging Lab is a research lab that provides advanced services in a variety of packaging related fields. The lab serves as a research and development center for students and industry partners seeking to develop and optimize packaging products.

The equipment in the laboratory allows to determine the mechanical and physical properties of a diverse packaging products, such as: films, plastic panels, paper, cardboard, etc. In addition, the protection of packaging products can be determined.

We carry out testing of packaging materials and packaged products. The tests are conducted according to Israeli and international standards or in accordance with specific requirements of our customers.

The topics explored in our framework are:

  • Oxygen absorption
  • Microbial packaging
  • Browning in an oven and microwave
  1. Packaging with gas barrier for thermal treated products.
  2. Mass transfer in polymeric packaging materials:
  • Permeability to gases and water vapor through plastic films, laminates and different packages.
  • Migrating monomers and solvent residues from packaging materials.
  1. Impact of packaging on shelf life and food preservation.
  2. Packaging for protection on fragile products.
